Affordable Art Wall

Visitors can discover new works on the Affordable Art Wall and purchase them directly from the artist. The selection is managed by the museum's community council.

Who can participate?
Whether you are an established artist or just starting out, whether you work with painting, photography, or digital media: the Affordable Art Wall is open to everyone, regardless of age, experience, or background.

Conditions

  • Only works that have not been exhibited or sold previously are eligible.
  • Only works that can be presented on the flat wall in the Abby Gallery are eligible. Therefore, painting, prints, or photography are accepted, while sculpture, installation art, or video art unfortunately do not meet the selection criteria.
  • The works should fit within a presentation space of 7m2.
  • Works must be delivered ready for display, meaning framed appropriately, with suitable hanging systems, etc.

Application:
Submit your proposal via this form. Provide an overview of the work you want to exhibit, along with images/sketches of the pieces, a brief description, and the intended asking price. Also, include a short bio about your artistic practice.

The Process

  1. Selection by the community council: Each quarter, the community council reviews the submitted entries. This council consists of city residents, cultural partners, and museum representatives.
  2. Selection announcement: If selected, you will receive a notification and further instructions for exhibiting your work.
  3. Exhibition: Your work will be displayed in the museum for three months.
  4. Sale: The sale price of the artworks for the Affordable Art Wall is determined by the artist and can range from €50 to €750. Sales are not handled by the museum; the artist manages the contact and follow-up directly.

Important Information

  • Participation is free.
  • The museum provides the space but is not responsible for any damage or theft.
  • The artist remains the owner of the work during the exhibition and is responsible for retrieving the artwork after the exhibition.
