House rules

To visit the exhibition halls, you must have a valid ticket.
Help ensure that everyone has an enjoyable visit by being respectful to others and not causing any disruption. Smoking, vaping, shouting, loud phone calls, or running through the halls are not allowed in the museum. A spontaneous dance by a video installation or an animated discussion about a painting is encouraged, but please make sure not to disturb other visitors.
Pets are not allowed in the museum, except for assistance dogs.
Always keep a safe distance of 60 cm from the artworks. Touching the artworks is not allowed unless otherwise indicated. The gallery attendants ensure that this distance is respected.
Personal items
Backpacks, bags, luggage, and/or other items larger than 34 x 22 cm are not permitted in the museum. You can store them in our lockers, which are equipped with a lock. Items that are too large to fit in a locker, such as scooters and folding bikes, are not allowed in the museum. The reception staff will decide if an item can be brought into the museum during your visit.
Coats should preferably be left in the lockers. If you have a wet or bulky coat, you are required to use the lockers or the coat racks in the cloakroom.
Strollers, walkers, wheelchairs, and other mobility aids are allowed in the museum. You can temporarily park them in the stairwell on -2. Scooters, kickboards, and rollerblades are not allowed in the museum.
Items that may pose a risk to the safety of people, artworks, and/or the building are not allowed. A list of these items can be found in the visitor conditions.
Abby is not responsible for the loss, theft, or damage of personal items. Any items left behind after closing time will be considered lost property. Contact the museum via abby@kortrijk.be to collect your lost item.
Food and drinks
Food and drinks are not allowed in the exhibition halls and museum spaces. To eat or drink, you are welcome at the museum café, on the terrace, or – after 6 pm and only with your drink – in the Living of Abby. It is not possible to have your own picnic in the Living, Abby Café, or on the terrace. If you wish to picnic, you can do so in the Begijnhofpark.
Groups
The group leader is responsible for the group. Always ensure enough supervisors and emphasize the museum rules to your group. If museum staff notice a group not adhering to the house rules, the visit may be ended early.
Groups should stay together as much as possible, so the leader can ensure the safety of the group members and the artworks. Group members can only roam freely if the leader is certain that they will follow the museum rules.
