The exhibition Double Reality brings together the photographic work that Callemin has created over the past six years. This is the first time these works are being presented together as a unified whole.
Tom Callemin (b. 1991, Ostend) lives and works in Ghent. He studied photography and media arts and is currently a researcher at KASK & Conservatorium Ghent.
Double Reality marks the culmination of his six-year doctoral research into the relationship between photography, perception and identity. His work is often created in his studio, where he produces images that challenge our perception. In his studio, Callemin meticulously reconstructs a world that makes us reflect on how we read and accept photographs as truth. This results in highly striking images. With the scenography specially designed for this exhibition at Abby, he gives us insight into the creative processes behind his images.
On the occasion of this project, the eponymous publication Double Reality was released by Art Paper Editions.
