In this three-part workshop series, we draw inspiration from historical and contemporary ceramics featured in the exhibition Coup de Théâtre. A Play of Clay.
We explore how clay can express emotion, and how form, exaggeration and play can bring a character to life. We create unique ceramic masks — to hang on the wall or display as a table object. They can be purely aesthetic, or take on a subtle functional role. The focus is on expression, character, distortion and personality.
A 3-part workshop series
What can you expect?
In a small group setting, Jannah Field and Sophie Caure from ceramic studio Vessel Kortrijk will guide you personally through the entire process, step by step: from building, refining and glazing your mask to the essential technical knowledge — building techniques, drying process, firing process and practical tips — so you can continue independently afterwards.
You'll go home with a finished ceramic mask, a solid foundation in clay and glazes, and a desire to keep experimenting!
