TRACES: memories that form a collective story

Traces project

Until September 2, you can discover the interactive installation TRACES in Abby's living room (salon). The project invites visitors to pause and reflect on their own memories and on the way stories become connected to one another.

TRACES was developed as part of the Creativ'Up Programme and is being tested for an extended period for the first time. Abby is the first location where the installation finds its place, and where visitors can help build a growing collective memory.

The installation takes the form of a digital constellation of artworks. Visitors are invited to wander through this constellation, guided by childhood memories, emotions and personal experiences. At each artwork, visitors can respond by adding a memory or a story of their own. In this way, the installation keeps growing through the voices and experiences of its visitors.

At the end of the experience, every visitor receives a small printed report to take home: a personal trace of their own experience within the larger network of memories.

TRACES stands for Time, Resonances, Archives, Collective, Echoes and Stories. The project explores how collective memory and social connection arise, how feelings, the body and memories are intertwined, and how technology can create new ways to engage visitors more deeply with art and cultural heritage.
